A quick 30-minute drive to RSW and a 45-minute drive to Punta Gorda. **UPDATE NEW SEAWALL - Obtain permits from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FL D.E.P.), the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the Town of Fort Myers Beach for the replacement of the seawall. Note: The new seawall cap will be built approximately 24 inches taller than the existing seawall elevation. This involves installing a 4-foot-wide step to accommodate the elevation difference between the new, taller seawall and the existing one. Drive down 14-foot-tall CL-9900 vinyl sheet piles against the waterside of approximately 80 feet of the old, failing seawall. Bolt these sheet piles to the old wall using stainless steel anchors. Pump concrete between the old and new walls and insert 5/8-inch rebar into each cell of the new sheet piles while the concrete is still wet, at a cost of $325 per foot. Install nine concrete deadman anchors with epoxy-coated tieback rods encased in poly pipe sleeves, each costing $500. Form and pour approximately 80 feet of 12-inch by 20-inch concrete cap that is approximately 24 inches taller than the existing seawall and encases the top of the new sheet piles reinforced with epoxy-coated rebar, at a cost of $140 per foot. Roughly grade the seawall using onsite materials. Form and pour two 8-foot-long concrete return walls along the East and West ends of the seawall to accommodate the transition with the neighbors’ lower seawall. Haul in approximately 5 loads of fill (20 tons each) to backfill behind the new, approximately 24-inch taller seawall. Dump the fill on the South side of the existing pool and then move it to the seawall using a 6-foot-wide skid-steer. Backfill and grade behind the seawall, at a cost of $800 per load.**
